In 1997, the late German artist Christoph Schlingensief covered the seats of the Volksbühne with tinfoil and declared the theater a space shuttle for his piece “Schlacht um Europe I-XLII / Ufokrise ’97: Raumpatrouille Schlingensief.” [Battle for Europe I-XII / Ufo Crisis ’97: Space Patrol Schlingensief] Now, shortly before the German elections, 032c pledges its allegiance to Europe with a T-shirt honoring Schlingensief’s semi-improvised play on the occasion of the Operndorf Afrika auction.
On September 22, the Festspielhaus Afrika GmbH and König Galerie are hosting a charity auction for Operndorf Afrika, selling t-shirts designed by renowned artists. The Operndorf Afrika project was conceived by Schlingensief and is considered his final artwork. Now led by Aino Laberenz, the project has evolved into a platform for intercultural exchanges in Burkina Faso. The 032c Schlingensief T-Shirt is our contribution to the project and all profits of the T-Shirt will be donated to the foundation.
